A lifelong Rockcastle County resident will serve on the board of directors for Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation (KHIC), the economic development organization announced today. Serena Stratton of Wildie, Ky., began her term on KHIC’s board last month.
“Serena is a great addition to our board,” said Jerry Ricket, president and CEO of KHIC. “She is dedicated to helping the region, and we’re looking forward to putting her to work.”
“Kentucky Highlands serves a great need in the region,” Stratton said. “My father was dedicated to this organization for 25 years, and I’m glad to be involved, too.”
Stratton was director of social services at Rockcastle County Hospital and Respiratory Care Center for 10 years. She also worked with her brother’s medical practice for nine years. She has a bachelor’s in social work from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s in social work from the University of Kentucky.
Stratton and her husband, Philip, have a daughter, Chelsen, at Lindsey Wilson College and a son, Jordan, at Rockcastle County High School. One-year-old Isaac is the newest addition, prompting Stratton to stay home as a full-time mother.
Stratton is also on the boards for the Rockcastle County Public Library and the Rockcastle County Vocational School. Her family is actively involved at Wildie Christian Church.
“I love my community, and I want to put my skills to use for the betterment of Rockcastle County,” Stratton said. “I’m looking forward to working for all nine counties in Kentucky Highlands’ service area.”
