Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation entrepreneurial training program begins Aug. 27
Friday August 07, 2009
LONDON, Ky. – Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation will begin another series of entrepreneurial training classes Aug. 27 in London.
The free instruction will provide budding entrepreneurs with the fundamental skills needed to build a sustainable business. Courses will cover strategic and operational issues to give attendees the practical knowledge and tool they need to operate their company successfully.
"We know that the one of the biggest factors in whether a new business succeeds or fails is whether company owners and managers have access to training and technical assistance," said Jim Carroll, director of KHIC's Center for Entrepreneurial Development. "These classes provide a solid foundation for anyone who wants to start their own business or expand an existing one."
The instructors include Carroll, who has experience as a manager and trainer with Fortune 500 companies and recently sold a company he founded and ran as its CEO for 12 years; Bob Wilson, who has 30 years of experience working with more than 150 start-up companies; and Todd Fisher, who has more than 30 years of experience in engineering, product development and commercialization, and has led technology-based businesses for a Fortune 50 company as well as small start-ups.
The course will consist of five sessions over a five-month timeframe. Each will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the third or fourth Thursday of each month at KHIC's office, which is located at 362 Old Whitley Road in London, south of Hwy 192.
Breakfast will be provided. There is no charge for attendance, but registration is required because the session is limited to 25 people with one to two people per company.
