Musgrove Receives Award

McCreary County man serves 25 years on Kentucky Highlands board
London, Ky.—Kentucky Highlands Investment Corp
oration (KHIC) has recognized another board member for lengthy service to the economic development organization.
Eldred Musgove of Pine Knot was recently recognized for his 25 years of service to the KHIC board. He was presented with a handmade, engraved pocket knife.
“Our
board members are an important link to the community and help set the
course for our economic development efforts,” said Bill Singleton,
Chairman of Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation’s Board of Directors. “Eldred’s commitment and dedication for 25 years is a clear example of the caliber of our board members.”
Mr. Musgrove was born on a farm near Pine Knot and attended Pine Knot High School before joining the Army and serving in WWII. He has been involved in a number of things including blacksmithing, welding, plumbing, small business, and firefighting. He currently operates a mobile home park with his wife and son.
Eldred has been involved with the McCreary County Development Association, McCreary County Industrial Development, Chamber of Commerce and the Pine Knot Telephone Company. He was also a charter member of the Pine Knot Kiwanis Club and was the 9th President of the organization. Musgrove was one of the first three McCreary County Water Commissioners and spent 10 years on that board. He was one of the first airport board members as well as one of the first Museum board members. Eldred
was a Boy Scout Master for 4 years, Post Commander of the VFW for 2
years and is a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. He is currently serving on the board of the South McCreary Fire District of Pine Knot and is also on the McCreary County Fire Board.
Musgrove and his wife Sophia have been married for 58 years. They have four children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Musgrove said, ”I enjoy meeting and working with others who can create jobs making Southeast Kentucky a better place to live.”
Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation has helped create more than 9,500 jobs in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
